Form -Fitted Liner – A type of liner which follows the shape of the bag (from top to bottom spout), and sewn to the top seam and the bottom seam of the bag. It typically has a flange around the perimeter, which allows the top and bottom to be sewn to the bag fabric, without puncturing the liner itself.

Full Open Discharge – A type of discharge whose outlet extends from the bottom seam and follows the bag’s base dimensions. This type of discharge will sometimes come with a full flap for added strength.

Handling Label – A standard accessory sewn along the top edge of a bulk bag to provide the user with bag information, i.e. bag size, manufacturing date, SWL, SF, and bag ID, as well as a proper handling diagram. All Bagwell labels are made of water proof material and are 4”x6”.

Hem / Hemming – An operation for folding and sewing fabric edges which prevents the fraying of cut fabric. This also provides a clean finish to the bulk bag. It may be folded either towards the inside or outside of the bag.

Hose – An accessory often used on a petal closure to facilitate tying it off. This may be either polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride.

Lamination / Coating – A feature of a heat-bonded PP film laminated adhered to the fabric surface. This option assists in preventing the loss of fine particle materials due to sifting, as well as to prevent dust seeping into the bag and contaminating the contents.

Loop Height – The measurement of a lifting loop from the top seam of the bag to the end of the loop.

Lifting Loop – Also called a lifting belt or strap, it is where the tines of the forklift, or lifting device are inserted to raise or lower it. It may be made of either a stiff strap or soft strap.

Main Fabric – Fabric constituting the U-Panel or 4-Panel body of a bulk bag.

Multi-trip Bulk Bags – Bags designed in accordance with British Standards requiring a 8:1 Safety Factor, (SF). Bagwell does not offer any guarantees or recommendations for multiple uses of our bags. Since the inspection of the used bags is beyond our control, we have no way of knowing if a bag is damaged in its initial use.

Perimeter Belt or Band – A stiff or soft belt / strap sewn around the top seam for reinforcement, also called ‘Safety Band’.

Petal Cover – A piece of PP woven fabric, the same material as body fabric or main fabric, that is sewn between the spout and the petal closure to hold in / protect the spout.

Polyester – A type of polymer often used in producing threads. It is not easily recycled.

Polyethylene (PE) – A type of polymer used in producing liners. It is recyclable and used as for dust containment or as a moisture barrier for products packaged in a bulk bag.

Polypropylene (PP) – A type of polymer used in producing monofilament and multifilament yarns and threads. It is recyclable and is used as our standard fabric, belt (strap), ties, and most threads.

Remote Open Discharge – A type of outlet that has provisions for discharge of material at a distance from a bulk bag.

Safe Working Load (SWL) – SWL is the maximum permissible amount of load, (in pounds or kilograms), which a bag is designed to carry.

Safety Factor (SF) – SF is an industry standard requiring the bulk bag to handle five or six times its Safe Working Load, (SWL), normally written as a ratio, “5:1 or 6:1 SF”.

Sanitary Flap – A bag accessory that is usually paired with a remote open discharge that is used to hold in or protect the spout during filling and transport.

Slip Sheets, otherwise known as linerboards or pallet liners, are placed on top of the pallet, underneath the product being stored or transported. Slip sheets help stabilize products on a pallet and helps prevent product damage from broken boards, splinters or protruding nails. Additionally, we offer waterproof sheets that provide added durability and are especially useful when working with wet pallets or wet floors as they help prevent moisture/water from damaging your product.

To ensure optimal handling of bulk bags and the safety of your workers, we recommend using a forklift or crane adapter. The use of a lifting adapter ensures that the bulk bag is lifted by its straps vertically, evenly distributing the force across the bag. This practice is essential for operational safety and greatly reduces the risk of a bag’s strength being compromised.

Our stock adapters are rated for 2,000Kg with a safety ratio of 10:1, and are suitable for bulk bag sizes ranging from 32”x32” to 38”x38”. Custom-made adapters for smaller or larger bulk bag sizes as well as for low overhead clearance are available.

Pallet Covers keep your products safe from dust, grease, water, and any other foreign contaminants.  They also protect your products from damage or contamination during transportation. When products need to be stored outdoors, our pallet covers provide much needed protection from the weather, moisture, rains, UV rays, and a variety of external contaminants. We stock a variety of polypropylene or polyethylene pallet covers, which many of our customers in the food, agriculture, chemical, and mining industries employ.

Our Industrial Liners are often used with our bulk bags for added product protection but can also be used to line various other packaging products such as drums or rigid containers. Our polyethylene liners provide a moisture barrier that will keep your wet products wet and your dry products dry. They are the best solution to prevent product leakage and contamination, while also shielding your products from water.

Our sturdy, UV-treated Sandbags can hold up to 30 kg and are a great solution for packaging sands and gravels to be used as flood barriers, temporary dams, erosion protectors, and road traction enhancers during winter.
